1. blistering
The formation of bubble-like shapes on the painted surface is known as blistering. The primary cause of this defect is water vapor. When water vapor is trapped under a layer of paint, it creates bubbles under the paint film.
2. bloom
The formation of dull patches on the painted surface is known as bloom. The primary cause of this defect is poor paint quality and improper ventilation.
3. Fading
When there is a gradual loss of color from the sore surface, it is known as fading. The main cause of this defect is the reaction of sunlight on the pigments of the paint.
4. flaking
In this type of defect, some portion of the paint film does not adhere properly to the surface; As a result of which the paint layer falls off. This is due to poor adhesion between the paint and the surface to be painted.
5. shining
The appearance of shiny patches on the painted surface is known as flashing. The cause of this defect is mainly due to poor workmanship, cheap paint or weather action.
6. smiling
If the thickness of the final coat of paint becomes too thin, the background can be clearly seen. This is known as a grin. Poor workmanship is the main reason for this defect.
7. running
This type of defect is observed when the surface to be painted is very smooth. In the case of a smooth surface the paint goes back and leaves small areas of the surface exposed.
8. sagging
This type of defect is more prominent when a thick layer of paint is applied to a vertical or inclined surface.
9. saponification
The formation of soap stains on the painted surface is called saponification. The chemical action of alkali is the cause of this defect.
10. wrinkle
This type of defect is more prominent when a thick layer of paint is applied to a horizontal surface.
