short stock method
When the material is in moist or moist conditions, the short storage method is used to reduce all samples of fine aggregates. If the sample to be split is dry, it is necessary to moisten the material before using this method.
- Place the original sample on a clean, dry plate or other hard, smooth, non-absorbent surface.
- Using a trowel or other suitable tool, flip the entire sample three times.
- Shape the ingredients into conical piles.
- With a spoon or small trowel, randomly take at least five small portions of material around the pile and a third of the way up to the cone until the required sample is obtained.
